Jessye Herrell

Jessye Herrell (she/her) is Beam Center’s Chief Program Officer; a programs leader with experience in youth development, digital media arts, and education-focused nonprofit work. She brings a teaching background, curiosity and reflection, and an emphasis on professional development and research-informed practices. These and many other things guide her systems-minded approach to leading programs, and building structures.

As an educator, she has taught learners of all ages and abilities in schools, museums, after school programs, summer camps, and other informal learning spaces across NYC. These experiences shape her POV: empowering others is a source of real joy and purpose.

She’s a bit of a data nerd and loves task management software (sorry, not sorry). Outside of work, she enjoys sci-fi novels, so-bad-they’re-good 80s movies, exploring museums, eating chocolate, and making bad puns. She is psyched to be at Beam, an organization that reflects the values that have driven her career, including radical trust in youth, creativity as a catalyst, and the power of being in community.
